Tenor, Ray Gonzalez was born and raised in thebeautiful Caribbean island of Puerto Rico, where he has been singing since he was a boy and where he graduated from the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico with a degree in Vocal Performance. In his native island, he has sung with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra, with the Fundación de Zarzuela y Opereta, and with the Philharmonia Symphony Orchestra.

Some of the roles that Gonzalez has given life to are Gaspar in Amahl and The Night Visitors, Javier Moreno in the zarzuela Luisa Fernanda, Don Luis de Haro in Barberillo de Lavapies. Most notably, however, he has performed the roles of Pinkerton in Madame Butterfly, Don José in Carmen and Arturo Burcklaw in Lucia di Lammermoor. Gonzalez has also performed symphonic repertoire such as the Misa Criolla by Ariel Ramirez and Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, this last work, with which he made his European debut in August 2018, in Málaga, Spain, under the baton of Maestro George Pehlivanian.

Additional performances include the Miami Lyric Opera, the 45th Annual Messiah with the Civic Chorale of Greater Miami, the 20th Anniversary of the Miami International Piano Festival, the Miami Music Festival Orchestra conducted by Michael Rossi at the Independent Day Celebration Concert with the City of Miami Beach, The Alhambra Orchestra, and a recital with Cuban Soprano, Maria Aleida in the ST Hugh Steinway Concert Series “Celebration of Love” with pianist Roberto Berrocal. This past December he was part of the memorial for famous tenor, Francisco Casanova, held in New York. Repertoire he is preparing for the next two seasons, include Des Grieux in Manon, Romeo in Romeo et Juliette and Nadir in Les Pecheurs de Perles. Gonzalez continues studying with Maestro Manny Perez and performs around the state of Florida.
