Eric Shane

Eric Shane is a baritone from Tulsa, Oklahoma. This is his debut tour with the South Florida Symphony. He is returning to the role of Jake in Porgy and Bess after his first performance as a young artist with The Glimmerglass Festival in 2017.

Eric is a second-place winner of the National Competition for Emerging Vocal Artists, first-place winner of Texoma region NATS, and two-time J. Ralph Corbett Competition winner. With a distinct passion for American opera, Eric has been a part of several workshops with Opera Fusion: New Works and the Virginia Arts Festival.

Works he has participated in include Shalimar the Clown, Hadrian, Intimate Apparel, and most recently Scott Davenport Richard’s Blind Injustice. He will also be making his debut as Rickey Jackson in the world premiere of Blind Injustice this summer as a young artist with Cincinnati Opera.

Eric has undertaken a wide range of roles including Papageno in Die Zauberflüte and the title role in Don Giovanni, as well as Vicomte Cascada in The Merry Widow, Gaudenzio in Rossini’s Il Signor Bruschino, as well as Paris in Roméo et Juliette as a young artist with the Castleton Music Festival.

Eric is a recent graduate of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music where he earned a Master of Music degree. He also holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Texas Christian University.
